Walk Across Tennessee

Walk Across Tennessee is a team-based walking program. Each team will have 8 weeks to cumulatively walk the equivalent of the length of Tennessee (about 500 miles) or more. Each team consists of up to 1 team captain and 7 team members (8 members total). Team members do not have to walk together. Some may prefer to walk outside, while others walk on a treadmill. Walk across Tennessee is inclusive to other forms of exercising including: biking, yoga, strength training, and more. The team who walks the farthest “across Tennessee” will win!

Walk Across Tennessee Resources:

Walk Across Tennessee Program will take place on August 2nd, 2022-September 26th, 2022.

During this time, there will be opportunities for participants to attend “Walk Days.” On Walk Days, participants will gather for a brief lesson that typically lasts 20 Minutes. After the lesson is over, the group will being walking. Everyone is encouraged to go at their own pace and they are able to achieve the desired distance. This is a great way to engage with other walkers and get your miles in! This opportunity is optional. The walk days will be offered in the afternoon. They will be located in various locations in the county so everyone will have a chance to come!

Dining with Diabetes

Dining with Diabetes is a hands-on learning program designed to teach practical skills needed to comply with the health care provider’s instructions. Food demonstrations included in each lesson to teach quick-and-healthy cooking techniques. Participants also learn how to count the amount of carbohydrates in food, how to modify recipes to reduce calories, carbohydrates and fat and how to plan a balanced diet for a specific calorie level.​​ Dining with Diabetes will be offered in March of 2022. This is a 3-session class! Specific dates and locations will be shared soon.
